Dr Jenner's House

‘The fifth most important place in world history’

That’s what Andrew Marr said, and I think he’s right. The house in Berkeley, Gloucestershire, where Edward Jenner lived and did his world-changing experiments is preserved as the Edward Jenner Museum. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that it’s running out of money and might have to close – which would be a tragic end for a place of such significance in the history of medicine and science, and that should be a World Heritage Site.

So please visit it online or – much, much better - in person – and be generous. Got a fairy godmother? Take her along too.

Here’s a brief video clip about Dr Jenner’s House, and here’s a piece I wrote for the Lancet about it.
