CAROLINe anne williams

10th January 1955 – 10th June 2019
1/12

Caroline and I met in the summer of 1979 in Lausanne, where she was working as a physiotherapist. First impression: a beautiful and elegant girl with a lively mind and a great sense of fun. She was also wise and unflappable, qualities that later helped to keep the family afloat through turbulent times.

Caroline enjoyed many things, from gardening (expert), windsurfing (looked the part) and skiing (not so convincing) to wildlife, knitting and jigsaws. She was at her happiest in several settings: in the company of friends, walking the dogs, in her polytunnel or in pursuit of butterflies with her camera.

To me, Caroline was a wonderful wife; to Tim and Jo, the ideal Mum; and to countless friends, a considerate, diverting and good-humoured companion. She was also immensely courageous in facing up to serious illness, especially during her last year when it was clear that medical science had run out of ideas.

Her death has left a massive hole in our lives, but we’re doing our best to follow her instructions to get the show back on the road without undue delay.

Thanks, Caroline, with all our love.
